How to Package / Protect Fraglie Items

If you can shake it, we can break it. Always remember this when you are packing fragile/breakable items.

Follow the process below creates almost foolproof protection:

1. Wrap the shipment in small-bubble wrap. You will want to wrap in wrapping paper first if you have painted surfaces on the item, in order to protect the finish.
2. Next wrap with a layer large-bubble wrap. During this step you can combine/nest same shape items, such as bowls.
3. To hold everything in place, wrap the resulting parcel a few times in stretch film, be sure to wrap in at least two different directions.
4. Choose a strong box with at least two inches of room on each side of your wrapped parcel. Tape the box bottom with at least two layers of tape.
5. First fill the bottom with a layer of packing peanuts. Put your wrapped parcel on top, then fill the box with peanuts from the top Use only enough foam peanuts to fill the space. You do not want to force the top down, if the box does not close easily, remove some of the peanuts.
6. It is best to nest 2 boxes for protection, if you choose to use only 1 skip steps 6 & 7. Choose a nesting box with at least two inches of room on each side of the. Tape the box bottom with at least two layers of tape.
7. Fill the bottom first with a layer of packing peanuts, place the smaller box inside the center of the larger box. Fill around the sides with packing peanuts from the top. Use only enough foam peanuts to fill the space. You do not want to force the top down, if the box does not close easily, remove some of the peanuts.
8. Seal it with two layers of tape. Label it "Fragile" on more than one side.

There are also kits available for standard fragile items - These kits eliminate some of the work involved, by using specialized dividers. Here are some examples of Dish Packs, Glass Packs, Mug Packs. There is also a collection of the items listed above in the Fragile Protection Kit, the only thing you need to purchace after that is the boxes you will use.
